A couple of Park stalwarts starred in a 120-plus cast that took the fairway stage for the MTF Finance Xmas Tournament on Sunday.

Jean Foot and Cliff Nepe were the net section winners.

Foot was the bogey queen — 13 of them in all — in her 88-20-68.

Nepe’s 83-17-66 was his best score on his home track since January 2020.

Anaru Reedy had five birdies in his men’s gross-winning 2-under 70, with Dan Collier second on 73.

An age-defying performance and a victorious round that will be remembered for one disastrous hole have been added to the golfing adventures of the Goldsmith brothers.

Tene Goldsmith broke his age in the veteran men’s competition on Tuesday.

The 75-year-old shot 2-over 74 — the second time this year he has achieved the feat. He carded 72 at the age of 74 in January.

Tuesday’s round was an inevitability from the left-hander who looks closer to 60 than the mid-70s. He has threatened it several other times this year including rounds of 76 in March, May, July and November.

Tene’s younger brother Kit looked on track for a similar number on Saturday only to come a cropper on the 12th hole where he had a quintuple 10.

Barring that cataclysm he was brilliant, mixing 13 pars with four bogeys in his division 1 men’s stableford-winning 81-13-68, for 42 points.

Mark Stewart’s best round at the Bay since December 2020 — 86-19-67 for 41 points — won him division 2.

Mark Thomas (39pts) and Sam Willock (39) were the Thursday competition winners.

Rob Johnstone was incorrectly put down as having scored 35 points in the November 27 division 2 men’s stableford last week.

Johnstone actually fired an excellent 84-21-63, for 45 points, to win the division. He was subsequently chopped three shots much to the sadistic delight of his Sunday School cohorts.

TUESDAY — Veterans’ combined stableford: L Foster/D Bush 77, B Read/R Veall 75.

Twos: T Goldsmith, R Veall.

SATURDAY — Men’s stableford, division 1: K Goldsmith 42, C Simpson 40, A Kirkpatrick 37.

Division 2: M Stewart 41, J Kerekere 41, P Goodwin 38.

Twos: P Anderson, C Jeffrey, D Pirimona, J.McGregor, D Robertson, P Butler, K Houkamau.

Approach: D Pirimona.

Thursday (Dec 1) — Men’s stableford, division 1: M Thomas 39, T Goldsmith 38, I Murphy 38, J Pittar 37.

Division 2: S Willock 39, B Read 39, M Gemmell 38, G Clapham 38.

Twos: I Murphy, C Poole.

Approach: I Murphy.

Sheree Gray is on the summer handicap slide.

For the second time in three rounds, Gray posted 88-21-67, for 40 points, to win the women’s stableford on Sunday.

Dave Fieldhouse and Andy Nimmo’s 39-point efforts topped the men’s divisions.

The Friday meat pack 9-hole stableford honours went to Tony Green and Dick Bentley. Both returned 22-point hauls.

TUESDAY — Women’s net: L Haisman 99-28-71, S Robertson 91-18-73, M Philip 104-31-72.

SUNDAY — Men’s stableford, senior division: D Fieldhouse 39, P Summersby 38, H Harris 35 on c/b.

Junior division: A Nimmo 39, S Skudder 37, B Tietjen 37.

Women’s stableford: S Gray 40.

FRIDAY — Meat pack 9-hole stableford, senior division: T Green 22, P Malloy 21, M Smith 21, M Pohatu 20, H Harris 19 on c/b.

Junior division: D Bentley 22, R Nichol 20, S Skudder 20, G Holland 19, D Dodgshun 19 on c/b.

PETER Harrison has completed the list of men’s club champions for 2022.

Harrison beat Raana Walker in the junior men’s final and his 89-26-63 also won the men’s stableford.

Doreen Goldsmith won the women’s stableford with 37 points.
