POVERTY Bay Kayak Club members were in the medals at the Oceania championships and Grand Prix 2 regatta in Sydney over the weekend.

Alicia Hoskin, Sam Ferkins and Alex Bermingham were among the New Zealand contingent at the champs held at the Sydney International Reggata Centre.

Hoskin won gold in the under-18 women’s K1 200 metres and K1 500m.

She also combined with Bermingham, Wellington’s Brooklyn Saunders and Otago’s Lucy Matehaere to win gold in the u18 K4 500m.

Bermingham and Saunders won silver in the u18 K2 200 and bronze in the K2 500.

Ferkins won the u18 men’s K1 1000 title and was in the u18 K4 500-winning crew.
