A team of tumblers from Gisborne Trampoline and Tumbling Club returned laden with medals from the North Island Championships in Rotorua last weekend.

Nine tumblers travelled and they returned with five gold medals, one silver and two bronze — an excellent result from such a large competition with many competitors aiming to qualify for national selection.

Lily Arnold, competing in the junior international division, started the medal haul by winning gold. She increased her scores, taking her well above the qualifying level.

For the nationals, she will be working to increase her skill level even further.

Haley Rolls won gold in the youth international division. Her high marks reflected the good form she showed.

Sophie Chambers was awarded with a bronze medal in her tumbling run but was not far off the higher medallists.

Jaxon Pardoe took out the title in his 11-and-12-year age group, but his mark did not qualify him for entry in tumbling to the national champs.

He has qualified in the other disciplines and has one more comp to raise his mark to the required level.

Porsha Warren-Hillman, competing in the 10-and-under age group, took the gold medal. She, too, will look to increase her marks for the nationals.

In the same age group, Bella Campbell-Reidy won a bronze medal. She is already showing potential and will have her chance at the nationals.

Reuben Walsh in the 10-and-under division took the title and now has to put in the hard work to stand out at the nationals. Reuben is one of three boys in the tumbling section.

Another capturing gold was Sophie Rolls in the eight-and-under division.
