IT was a disappointing day for the Gisborne East Coast men’s and women’s teams at the Bowls New Zealand national intercentre tournament in Auckland yesterday. Play continued today.

Each team had only one win. Gisborne Bowling Club’s Jamey Ferris and Steve Goldsbury beat Dunedin 17-12 in a second-round pairs match, while Kahutia’s Dayvinia Mills had a 25-14 first-round singles win against a Kapiti Coast opponent.

After three rounds of section play in Gisborne-East Coast men’s six-team group, Nelson led the points with 22, followed by Taranaki, on 21.

Gisborne East Coast were last, on three points.

In the women’s section, Gisborne East Coast trailed the field, on three points. Auckland and North Harbour were in the lead with 21 points each.
