LYTTON High School hockey player Sienna King was goalkeeper in the bronze-medal-winning Manawatu team at the Under-18 Women’s Association Tournament in Carterton.

They beat Tauranga 4-1 in the bronze-medal match.

Thames Valley, which included Lytton students Moelani Tureia-Siataga, Maia Rickard and Kelsey Teneti, beat Bay of Plenty 2-1 in the playoff stages to finish 11th.

Meanwhile, in Whangarei, Sienna King’s father, Matt King, managed the silver-winning Central u18 men at the Vantage National U18 Tournaments. Central lost 6-0 to Canterbury in the final.

Henry Mulligan, also of Gisborne, was assistant coach of the Central u18 women who beat Canterbury 4-1 in their final.
