The Gisborne RDA Winter Woolies Show raised $4777 for Gisborne Riding for the Disabled.

Donations, entry fees and a meat raffle produced the funds raised, said Sandra Faulkner of Gisborne RDA.

As a fundraising event, the show far exceeded expectations.

“What started out as a bit of a harebrained idea quickly formed up to become a four-ring, fun day out for horses, ponies, riders and families,” Faulkner said.

She paid tribute to organisers Amy Hopkins, Di Rogers, Sandy Richmond and Lesly Fitzgerald; judges Lisa Walker, Sonya Newton, Shirley Hyland, Nikki Hansen, Neville Clark and Bruce Holden; stewards Kim Puddick, Ashleigh Sheldrake, Kay Harding, Lily Beaufoy and Tom Lane; commentator Fraser Moore; results runner George Faulkner; and helpers Ange Dolman, Robin McIldowie, Ros Waghorn and John Moroney.
