Four Gisborne athletes have been named in Surf Life Saving New Zealand teams to compete overseas this year, with Midway club member Olivia Corrin named in two.

Corrin, clubmate Cory Taylor and Waikanae’s Casie Fyall have been named in a 10-strong team to compete at the Sanyo Cup annual international event in Fukuoka, Japan, on June 23 and 24.

Corrin and Waikanae’s Briana Irving have been selected for a six-male/six-female team — the Junior Black Fins — to represent New Zealand in the youth competition at the biennial Lifesaving World Championships in Adelaide, Australia, from November 15 to December 2.

Teams will compete in 43 pool and beach lifesaving events — three days in the pool and two on the beach and in the sea.
