GISBORNE players are making their mark for Northern Districts at the national under-15 tournament in Whanganui.

ND have had a win and two losses so far in their 30-overs games.

Kayley Knight scored an unbeaten 50 as ND made 135-9 chasing Canterbury’s 221-5.

ND were dismissed for 109 against Wellington, who achieved the winning target for the loss of three wickets.

Knight, Mia Reeves and Grace Levy contributed strongly in ND’s four-wicket win over Otago.

Knight took 1 for 14 off six overs, then scored 44 as ND reached 174-6, chasing Otago’s 173-7.

She anchored the chase as ND got through to 51-1 after 15 overs, leaving them needing another 123.

Reeves hit the accelerator, making a fine 44 not out from 38 balls, including four boundaries and some excellent running between the wickets as ND won with five balls to spare.

Levy has been one of ND’s best bowlers so far — her 2-17 off four overs putting the brakes on Otago late in their innings when a score of 200-plus looked on.
