Marc Alexander and Jessie Davis-Law, of Poverty Bay Bowling Club, have won the Gisborne-East Coast champion of champions senior mixed pairs title.

They defeated Kahutia pair Dayvinia Mills (skip) and Leighton Shanks 19-11 in the final.

Alexander (s) and Davis-Law flew out to an 11-0 lead before Mills and Shanks mounted a comeback. However, the Poverty Bay pair had enough left in the tank to win by eight on their home green.

In the semifinals, Poverty Bay beat Gisborne 19-8 and Kahutia beat Tolaga Bay 19-12.

In the junior champion of champions mixed pairs final, Te Karaka Bowling Club’s Greg Flett (s) and Erica Thompson needed a tiebreaker to win a close match against Poverty Bay’s John Andrews (s) and Debs Hancock.

In the semifinal, Te Karaka beat Kahutia and Poverty Bay beat Gisborne, with both matches decided by a tiebreaker.
