Jamison Gibson-Park has been named to start at halfback for Ireland for their clash with the All Blacks this weekend.

The former Gisborne Boys’ High School first 15 player is now ready to make his mark on rugby’s world stage against the best team in the world.

Having already made 11 appearances for the Irish team, Gibson-Park has established himself as one of two preferred halfbacks in the team.

It has been a tense battle with Conor Murray for the coveted nine jersey, with teams including Ireland typically having a spare halfback in the reserves. Murray starts this weekend from the bench. After stints with the Hurricanes, Blues and Taranaki following his schoolboy rugby, Gibson-Park moved to play in Ireland for Leinster, having made 102 appearances since 2016.
