The lap record at Eastland Kart Club’s Aerodrome Rd track has been lowered for the second week running.

Seth Hall recorded a time of 21.259s on Sunday at the club’s fourth points meeting of the season. That was 1.251s faster than the time Ash McMillan set the week before.

Hall was a big mover in the feature that ended the meeting. Eleven karts contested the 11-lap race and Hall moved up to second place before his kart packed up and he went to the infield.

Shaun Barwick took the feature race chequered flag, Luca Vita was second and Daniel Taylor third. Mike Vita, Roger Moss and Harley Davis were fourth to sixth respectively.

In the eight-lap kids’ feature, Kolten Irvine took his third feature win of the season. Nixen Gooch’s good form was rewarded with second place and Jose Govender was third.

Warm, windy weather meant it wasn’t easy keeping moisture in the track, but Sam Lyle did a great job with the watering.

At the start of the day, drivers did timed laps to see which group they would start in. They could go up or down a group, depending on results.

The fastest drivers went into group A, the next fastest into group B and the rest into group C.

In group A races, Luca Vita had two wins and Ash McMillan had a win and took home the driver of the day award.

Second placings went to Luca Vita, McMillan and Barwick while Mike Vita had two third placings and Hall one.

In group B races, Dion Lund, Hall and Logan Irvine each had a win. Second placings went to Barwick, Davis and Taylor, and thirds went to Tyler Barwick, Taylor and Roger Moss.

In group C, Davis, Moss and Tessa Irvine each had a win. Second placings went to Lyn Lyle, Barry Irvine and Tyler Barwick. Hamish Worsnop had two third placings and Caleb Stichbury one.

Rookies start behind the juniors in the kids’ races. Gooch had two wins and Jose Govender one. Govender, Gooch and Pyper Irvine each had a second placing. Kolten Irvine had two third placings and his sister, Pyper, had one.
