THE Gisborne Giants superstock team won their way through to tonight’s semifinals of the national teams event at Waikaraka Park speedway in Auckland, but they face a tough challenge to make the final.
The Giants were beaten in their first qualifying-round match-up with Hawke’s Bay last night and they will
meet Hawke’s Bay again in the semifinals.
They thrashed the Palmerston North Mustangs in their second qualifying race last night, and scored enough points to be fourth-highest qualifiers. Hawke’s Bay were top qualifiers.
The Gisborne team members are Peter and Ethan Rees, James Kirk, Gary Davies and Jamie Hamilton.
The Giants won the title at this event last season.
