It was "game on" over another busy Saturday of sport in Gisborne.

Harry Barker Reserve buzzed to the sound of Poverty Bay club hockey on the turf and Eastern League men's football on the grass.

The Oval featured a Poverty Bay Premier club rugby double, with Pirates recording a memorable first win of the season over HSOB, and Waikohu pipping OBM in a thriller.

Gisborne Boys' High first 15 always attract a good crowd at their Rectory field home ground and while Rotorua proved too good for them in a Super 8 game, there was plenty of excitement for the home fans.

The YMCA was a cauldron of netball action, including an entertaining match-up between Waikohu and Whangara Old Girls.
