Ngatapa chalked up their first win of the Civil Project Solutions Poverty Bay premier club rugby competition with a hard-fought 14-5 victory over Pirates at Paddy’s Park, Patutahi, last night.

Winger Peter Livingston scored a try and second five-eighth Ricardo Patricio kicked three penalties for Larsawn Ngatapa. Winger Jokatama Cewa scored a try for Kevin Hollis Glass Pirates.

Ngatapa led 8-5 at the halftime break. Livingston and Pirates second five Solomoni Rasari were the game’s MVPs (most valuable players). YMP Bumbles beat Harvest/Matawhero Transport Ngatapa 17-0 in a senior 1 game.

A match report of the premier game will be in Monday’s Gisborne Herald.
