GISBORNE professional triathlete Tayler Reid had to settle for fourth at the ITU Triathlon Mixed Relay Championships in Hamberg yesterday.
The New Zealand team of Reid, Ainsley Thorpe, Nicole Van Der Kaay and Hayden Wilde clocked 1 hour 20 minutes 46 seconds to be just three seconds behind third-placed Australiain the race won by France (1:20.18) from Germany (1:20.22).
Reid was the fastest of the Kiwi crew, completing his 300-metre swim, 6.6-kilometre cycle and 1km run leg in 18 minutes 54 seconds — a time bettered by only three other athletes.
