A PLAYER who appeared in three Heartland Championship rugby matches for Ngati Porou East Coast as a loan player in 2016 has received a four-year ban for possession of a prohibited substance.
Jacob Nield, 22, made an early guilty plea to possession of the banned substance Clenbuterol.
The loose forward
was playing for Te Awamutu Sports club at the time of the offending and did not contest the charges at a New Zealand Rugby judicial committee hearing this month.
He was banned for four years, starting on February 5, 2017. The ban ends on February 5, 2021.
Nield had also played for Hautapu in the Waikato club competition.
