Tomorrow night’s game will be a litmus test for both sides.
“Both teams like to move the ball at speed, so we will be entertained by some great netball skills,” commentator Sherrill Beale said.
“I expect the YMCA will be packed.”
HSOG coach Tanya Owen said her girls expected a fast and physical game.
“It’s always a great match when we play each other.
“We’re excited about the occasion, and everyone is here this week for this important game.”
YMP were silky smooth in their connections against Ritana Senior A on Saturday. The growing balance in the way YMP play their game was clearly evident and coach Ingrid Brown will look for more of the same tomorrow night.
The game starts at 7.30pm.
At 6pm, Gisborne Girls’ High School Senior A play Champers Horouta Gold.
“Girls’ High have been playing well and it was only through inexperience that they let the game slip through their fingers against the more experienced Whangara Old Girls last Wednesday,” Beale said.
The students stretched the fast-improving Whangara side last week and lost by only two goals.
“Horouta Gold will be determined to take this win, though, so the students will need to bring their confident game,” Beale said.
Horouta have had their moments this season, notably when they went close to beating YMP in mid-May . . . just three goals in it.
Tomorrow night would be a good time to pull something out of the bag.
A win for them would heat up the competition near the bottom of the points table.
Heading into tomorrow night’s games, YMP sit on top of the table on 20 points, followed by Claydens Waikohu on 17, HSOG and Whangara on 16, Girls’ High and Ritana on six and Horouta on two.
Round 2 ends with the games tomorrow night.
