POVERTY Bay-East Coast racked up their first win at the Freyberg Masters men’s national interprovincial golf tournament in Taupo this morning.

PBEC beat Otago 4-1 in the over-40s matchplay event at the Centennial course.

No.1 Pete Anderson and No.2 Tony Akroyd had 5 and 4 wins, No.3 Simon Jeune won 4 and 3 and No.4 David Solomann won 2 and 1.

The team win lifted PBEC off the foot of the table. They were to face North Harbour this afternoon.
