Indoor bowlers got their season off to a bright start with a youthful look to the final of the Opening Trios this month. Four of the six players in the final were teenagers.

Tournament organisers changed the format of the tournament, which was held at the Cosmopolitan Club this month.

A single-entry format was adopted to encourage newer players to enter. Teams were selected at random from a list of leads, twos and skips, which made for some evenly contested matches. The winning trio were Warren Gibb, 14-year-old Quaylahn Casey and Mike Foster.

In the final, they had a 15-8 victory over the trio of 18-year-old Dylan Foster and 14-year-olds Adam Rickard and Sean Haskins. This was the first centre title for Casey, the fifth for Mike Foster (earning him a silver star) and the 22nd for Gibb.
