The Poverty Bay Cup, for first-round Chris Moore Cup losers, will be contested by second-division teams Tumu Thistle and QRS Wairoa Athletic at Childers Road Reserve at 12 midday tomorrow.

In the semifinals, Thistle beat Heavy Equipment Services Gisborne United Thirds 2-1 after extra time, while HES United Seconds defaulted their Wairoa fixture against Athletic because of players’ work commitments.

The women’s Braybrook Cup final between Gisborne Laundry Services Wainui Riverina and Gisborne Girls’ High School will be played at Childers Road Reserve at 10.30am on Sunday.

In the semifinals, women’s Eastern League runaway champions Wainui Riverina beat Bohemians 9-0, while Girls’ High beat Tatapouri Marist Thistle 5-0.

Girls’ High had won their quarterfinal match against league runners-up Campion by default.

All three finals will comprise 45-minute halves and if the scores are level at the end of regulation time, two halves of 15 minutes each will be played.

If the scores are still level, a best-of-five penalty shootout will be held. If the teams still cannot be separated, the shootout will progress to sudden death.
