Family atmosphere at Actvsk8

THRILLS, spills and fun aplenty for participants, and wowed crowds were all part of Saturday’s Actvsk8 event.

Sport Gisborne-Tairawhiti events adviser Debbie Hutchings was thrilled by the large turnout of young and older social skaters and scooter riders.

Many were supported by family members, which made for an enjoyable atmosphere.

Spot prizes, a barbecue and music from DJ Magic helped entertain the largest crowd seen at Alfred Cox Skate Park so far this summer.

The event also attracted about 10 more serious skaters who are preparing for next week’s East Coast Skate Jam.

The younger skaters enjoyed watching them, said Ms Hutchings.

Actvsk8 is part of the Activators summer series aimed at encouraging Tairawhiti youth to be active and enjoy the outdoors.
