It’s an enticing call at the sideshows every year at the A&P Show, and rugby has taken note.
Bayleys Real Estate Gisborne is the naming sponsor for the Poverty Bay Rugby Junior Competition, and the deal includes a co-sponsorship with investment and advisory group Jarden on a “Ball for All”initiative. A thousand branded rugby balls will be given out, so that all registered junior club players will have their own ball.
Bayleys country sales specialist Simon Bousfield said Bayleys viewed sponsorship of the junior rugby competition as a fantastic way to support the community.
Former Junior Advisory Board chairwoman Cara Haines, recently appointed as an independent board member of Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union (PBRFU), said the initiative meant rangatahi all over Tairawhiti would have a rugby ball of their own so they could play the game with their mates whenever they wanted.
“It’s a great way to kick off the junior rugby season,” she said.
