Elite paddlers gather in Gisborne

REACH: Cory Campbell makes the most of her reach while paddling at the elite waka ama training camp in Gisborne over the weekend.

TOP female paddlers from around the country converged on Gisborne over the weekend for a three-day elite waka ama training camp.

They are building towards the International Va’a Federation’s world sprint championships on Australia’s Sunshine Coast in May next year.

At the weekend they trained under the eye of national elite women’s sprint coach Kiwi Campbell. Open and development teams for men and women will contest the elite championships.
