Eastland in Rotorua for masters’ games

Eastland representatives travel to Rotorua this weekend for the second round of the North Island interprovincial masters’ Division 3 badminton competition.

They will play North Harbour (4) and Counties Manukau (2).

The team were hoping to travel with five men and five women, but Mark Beard had to withdraw due to injury.

Michael Thorpe will make his masters representative debut, and will have to play all six matches.

Eastland Masters managed to get two wins in the first round, and are in second place in the competition.

North Harbour (4) are fourth and Counties Manukau (2) are third.

Team members travelling this weekend are David Colbert, Justin Kent, Michael Thorpe, Debbie Brown (manager), Gabrielle Perano, Victoria West, Adrianne McLeod and Makuini Winiata (all from the Gisborne club), and loan player Gary Teague, from Manawatu.
