ONE of the district's most famous golf tournaments has been added to the casualty list of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The East Coast men's open, scheduled for the weekend of April 18 and 19 at Te Puia Springs Golf Club, has been cancelled for 2020.
The competition has been an integral
event on the district calendar for decades and, for the top players, makes up what is known as the Triple Crown of golf — the East Coast Open, the Poverty Bay Open held at the Awapuni Links and the King of the Coast held at Tolaga Bay.
Te Puia Springs Golf Club this morning confirmed that the 2020 edition had been cancelled, and that Sunday golf at the course would be off “until further notice”.
