Cycling

Gisborne Cycling Club events — visitors and new cyclists welcome.

Saturday, club ride (no racing) — From Taruheru Cemetery, Nelson Road, starting at 1.30pm. Most rides are 90 minutes to three hours long and at a comfortable pace for all.

Sunday — Group ride at 8am from Avantiplus Maintrax. This is a friendly group ride for anyone wanting to ride with others. Approximate pace will be 25kmh.

Running/WalkingSaturday — Club championship/Hawke’s Bay-Gisborne championship. Open to all registered with Gisborne Harrier Club. Members are encouraged to join in the annual tradition of friendly regional rivalry. Start: 1pm. Location: Tietjen farm, Back Ormond Road. For more details, see the club’s Facebook page.

Sunday — Gizzy Trail Run No.4. Longbush Ecosanctuary, Riverside Road. Registration: 9.30am. Start: 10am. Dress in green to show support for stroke survivors. Bake sale and donation buckets available. All money raised will go to Gisborne Stroke Support. Short, medium, and long courses — all welcome. Free for harrier club members. Adult/youth casual: $15/$5. Under-7s: free. Coffee truck on site but don’t forget your keepcup; this is a waste-free event.
