Gisborne rider Larina Dolman won the Harrison Lane North Island Pro Amateur Rider event at the Showjumping Auckland North Island Championship Show at the weekend.

Dolman, riding Kiwi Lansing, held off the challenge of Mangatangi rider Tors Rattray, who was second on Versace NZPH and third on Larmani MVNZ.

Te Awamutu rider Emily Hayward, 20, won both the premier league and young rider crowns at the show.

Last season, Hayward won the Olympic Cup as showjumper of the year.

Yesterday, she and her 10-year-old Australian bred-to-race thoroughbred Belischi HM headed home eight other combinations to win the POLI Payments North Island Premier League event over the Eryn Duffy-designed course. Hayward and Belischi HM were the only combination to finish the two-round competition with a clean slate.

Earlier, Hayward and Belischi won the FMG North Island Young Rider Championship event with another double-clear effort.

Hayward plans to chase the horse grand prix, young rider and World Cup classes this season, and defend her Olympic Cup crown.
