Dead heat in feature

Daniel Taylor and Jake Callaghan crossed the finish line together in a tie for first place in Eastland Kart Club's 10-lap feature race yesterday.

The feature race came at the end of the club's “test and tune day” and produced the best finish seen at club meetings.

Race judges could not separate the two frontrunners so a tie was called and Taylor and Callaghan finished first equal.

These sorts of races create a buzz among drivers and the crowd.

In other racing, Lyn Lyle won five races and Tessa Irvine picked up four second placings.

Donna Greaves had a second placing and four thirds.

Daniel Taylor had three wins, a second placing and a third.

Jake Callaghan had two wins and two seconds.

Luca Vita had a second placing, as did Toby White.

Cody Atkins had two third placings, while David Tamanui and Tara Whiteman had one third placing each.

The next club meeting will be the second points meeting on Sunday, November 22.

The track is in Aerodrome Road. Spectators can attend, free of charge. Racing starts at 10am.
