ALL three Doleman Cup cricket games at Harry Barker Reserve on Saturday were abandoned at 5.30pm.

After rain delayed the start of the games, scheduled for 40 overs but reduced to 30, Pirates, Gisborne Boys’ High School and competition leaders OBR completed their innings but their opponents were unable to do the same.

In the match of the day, between Bain Construction OBR and Bollywood Stars High School Old Boys, OBR batted first and posted 183-9.

Openers Craig Christophers and Ian Loffler gave OBR a flying start with a 55-run partnership off 10 overs, before Christophers was caught by wicketkeeper Glen Udall off Jak Rowe for 33, scored off 36 deliveries.

Kieran Venema continued his good form from the Bay’s match against Waikato Valley last week when he top-scored with 44 from 65 balls.

Venema and Korban Harrison-Allen, who scored 21 off 32 balls, combined for a 51-run stand for the third wicket.

Harrison-Allen was the first of four wickets for Marshall Norris.

HSOB were 24 without loss when the game was abandoned after 5.1 overs.

Kevin Hollis Glass Pirates, looking to follow up their win against HSOB in Round 2, posted 146-5 against Coastal Ultrasound Horouta.

Tom Needham, playing his first game since his return from university, led the charge with 50 not out from 34 balls.

Neeham hit two sixes and three fours, and shared an unbeaten stand with Tayla Hollis (13no).

Clarence Campbell was the pick of the Horouta attack with 2-34 off six overs.

Play ended with Horouta 32-2 after eight overs, with David Situ (19 no) and Tusha Balata (7no) at the crease.

Boys’ High openers Matt McNeil and Travis Mitchell gave their side a magnificent start against Campion College, putting on 119 for the first wicket.

The stand ended when Mitchell was caught by N Andrews off the bowling of Luke Hurlstone for 25.

McNeil, who hit six fours in the 82 runs he smashed off 89 balls, was next to fall. With the total at 129, he was caught by Tahran Ward off the bowling of Hurlstone.

Paul Stewart chipped in with 15 off 11 balls and skipper Drew Scott, batting at No.5, added 11 from 11 as Boys’ High scored 168-6.

When play stopped after five overs, Campion were 22-0, with Mark Naden on 17 and Sam Patterson on 4.
