THE Burger King Pro Dirt super saloon series comes to the Eastland Group raceway on Friday and Saturday and among the field will be Daniel Corrin.
Corrin started his speedway career at the Gisborne track and while now based in Tauranga, he still calls Gisborne home.
The reigning North Islandsuper saloons champion, who won the 2015-2016 New Zealand saloon cars title in Gisborne, said he was “super pumped” at returning to Gisborne as part of the seven-round series.
His 124M car will be one of 26 V8 grunters and he goes in on the back of a podium finish in the feature race in round 2 in Wellington.
His efforts in the capital lifted him from 19th — after a “shocker” in round 1 in Tauranga — to eighth.
Mark Pitcher (Wellington) leads the series from Grant Flynn (Hawke’s Bay) and Craig Cardwell (Huntly).
“It’s a fantastic line-up for what’s going to be two nights of great racing,” said Gisborne Speedway Club president Grant MacGregor. “The weather forecast is great for both nights.”
