Contrasting games ahead

ONE close, one not so close would be the prediction ahead of the two premier-grade netball games at the YMCA tomorrow night.

The Pak’nSave matches start at 6pm tomorrow night with Gillies Electrical Gisborne Girls’ High School Senior A in action against Claydens Waikohu (3).

“This is the first time these two teams have met, but looking back on earlier games, with other opposition this round, their results have been similar,” netball commentator Sherrill Beale said.

“I am expecting a close game.

“Both teams have had some good passages of play in recent games and will have targeted this one for a win.”

Girls’ High sit seventh on the points table on six points, with Horouta Gold (10) and Tapuae (9) within reach.

Waikohu (3) are on three points at the bottom of the table.

With a win tomorrow night the students would jump to fifth-equal place, but Waikohu (3) have the four points to play for too.

The 7.30pm game tomorrow night pits top-of-the-table YMP Sunshine Brewery against Horouta Gold.

“Last time these teams met it was a big win to YMP,” Beale said.

“The competition leaders have been playing some very good netball in this round, so Horouta Gold will need their top game for the full hour to stay in the contest.”

Horouta have been playing well lately, but matching it with the in-form YMP team would be a monumental task.
