TOUCH

STUDENTS got out of the classroom and mixed with the community in a mixed touch rugby tournament run by EIT yesterday.

Teams such as the Gisborne Fire Service and a combined Gisborne Police and Te Karaka School side competed against various EIT-populated teams.

They also scored points in relays and from karaoke, adding more fun to the day.

Organiser Luke Fox said it was the second time the event had been run and it would be back next year.

More than 100 people were there, he said.

They played for four memorial trophies acknowledging former scholarship students who had died.

EIT Services Pathway were declared the winners.
