HAWKE’S Bay professional tennis coach Craig Giddy will be in Gisborne for the nationwide Love Tennis promotion on Saturday.

Giddy, a multiple winner of the 45-plus age group in national seniors tennis, is a coach and member at Hastings Tennis and Squash Club.

As of yesterday, he was expected to be in Gisborne today running a holiday programme for youngsters, and would be a guest coach for the Love Tennis activities on Saturday.

Gisborne Tennis Club is opening its courts at Victoria Domain, Childers Road, from 11am to 3pm on Saturday.

People of any age are invited to use the courts free of charge during that period, to either try tennis or get back into it in a “friendly, supportive environment”.

As well as Craig Giddy, club coaches will be available and will run special programmes suitable for all levels of ability.

The courts will be available to be used for games. Balls will be provided and some rackets will be available for those who do not have one.

The club had a good response to the Love Tennis promotion last year and members are hoping for another enthusiastic turnout.
