RUGBY

All local club rugby games will be held without spectators tomorrow.

The council of clubs convened last night and decided that no supporters would be allowed to attend games in the Civil Project Solutions senior competitions.

A Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union (PBRFU) representative said that premier-grade teams, their staff and match officials would make up a game-day bubble of close to 70 people, with a 100-person maximum allowed during Covid Alert Level 2.

PBRFU representatives would be at venues to support these measures.

The union is exploring options to livestream the games. The plan is for all three premier-grade games to be livestreamed. Details will be available on the union’s Facebook page.

If Covid measures are raised to Level 3, all rugby games will be cancelled.

All junior rugby will be held if restrictions ease to Level 1 but will be cancelled if the Level 2 restrictions remain in place through the weekend.
