PYTHONS versus Scorpions went game for game in the Brezz N Darts Club competition.

Scorpions hit out strongly in the first set of singles, John Lynch defeating Errol Tamihana 2-0 and John’s partner Heiwari Phillips defeating Antz Hulley 2-0.

Pythons’ middle section of Kiri Hawea and Louise Laulau hit back, Hawea defeating Brian (Skip) Royle 2-1 and Laulau defeating Bill Allen 2-1.

Scorpions anchors Dean Allan and Victor Mackey struck back, Allan defeating Warren Coe 2-0 and Mackey defeating Joanne Matete 2-0.

Scorpions were 4-2 up heading into the pairs, but Pythons won five games to Scorpions’ four in this section.

Scorpions were still 8-7 up going into the reverse singles, and they finished strongly to win 12-9.

Highlights were Vic Mackey’s 112 start, and Errol Tamihana and Mackey leading the high scores, each with seven.

Falcons came out firing against Stallions, taking the first set of singles six games to nil, giving up just one leg in the process.

In the pairs, Falcons conceded only two legs in winning all nine games.

Falcons then won five of the six reverse singles games, Stallions captain Kazius Collier-Delamere taking a game from Falcons’ Claude Saddlier 2-1.

Highlights were a 180 from Falcons’ Harley Ngarangione and a 130 start from Stallions’ Kayne Arahanga.

Hawks defeated Pumas by default.

Sharks won the first set of singles against Humming Birds 6-0, although Humming Birds secured three legs.

In the pairs, Sharks took out seven of the nine games. Humming Birds pairing Angela Leach and Gaye Tamihana took two games off the Sharks, defeating Curly Waikare and Dallas Joseph 2-0 and Sharks anchors Curly Kerr and Sonny Laulau.

In the reverse singles, Sharks won five of the six singles. Humming Birds’ Tuihana Shephard defeated Nikki-Jean Stevenson 2-0.

The overall score was 18-3 to the Sharks.

Curly Kerr’s 120 start was a match highlight.

Tigers proved too strong for Ruahine, although Ruahine managed to take two games.

In the singles, Ruahine’s Tom Te Kira defeated Haimona Ratapu 2-1. However, Tigers won the first set of singles 5-1.

In the pairs, the Tigers pairings were too strong, winning 9-0. Ruahine did manage to grab four legs.

Tigers had a 5-1 advantage in the reverse singles. Ruahine’s Tiana Kauika defeated Willie Edwards 2-0.

Highlights of the match were a first 180 for Ruahine’s Chris Te Moni, and another 180 for Tigers’ Tipi Eyles, who also secured a 160 start.
