TOP players will be in action at Waikirikiri Reserve tomorrow for the Whack! City Touch Tournament. The day-long event is being run by the BlackJax mixed touch team as a fundraiser for a tournament in Whakatane early next year.

Tournament organiser Jonette Karaka yesterday said 10 teams were confirmed for the Whack and entries would be taken on the day.

There are two grades, open and whanau, and play starts at 9am. Trophies will be presented in each grade.

Karaka said there was a focus on rangatahi (youth) in the Whakatane tournament. One of their main aims of taking a team away was to give the younger players an experience of opportunities outside Gisborne.
