Murray Yates was the hero of the Bay as the Endeavour men's interclub pennants champions were crowned on Sunday.

Tolaga Bay won the 2022 title although it needed a chip-off to decide it.

Tolaga Bay and Waikohu ended the final matchplay round of the series locked at 56 points apiece.

Waikohu compiled 16 of a possible 24 points — four for a win, two for a half — on the day while Tolaga Bay collected 12.

Tama Brown, Percy Milner, Tipi Ruru and Larry Green had wins for Waikohu while Yates, Joe Sheridan and Trent Higgs won for Tolaga.

After four rounds at different courses, it all came down to one shot — a chip-off on the 18th . . . Yates v Milner.

Yates went first and put his ball to a beatable 20-feet away. Milner was too strong with his reply, his ball rolling off the back of the green.

Others to represent Tolaga Bay over the series were Tim Adamson, Will Yates, BJ Sidney, Pete Stevenson and Joe Lincoln.

Electrinet Park (2) earned bragging rights over their No.1 team in finishing third. The two Park sides met, with the No.2 crew winning four of the six matches — Tom Reynolds, Paul Wellard, Steve Phillips and James Witika the victors. Mike Christophers and Josh Hayes won for Park (1).

Mahia went into the round well in the title race but faded. David Waihaki and Rusty Smith were their only winners.

Butch McKenzie, Shane Watson and Pat Molloy had wins for Patutahi while Kit Goldsmith, Peter Hakiwai and Richard Foon provided Poverty Bay's successes.

Fill-in Brian Morrissey, his old partner in crime Bill Clark and Park ring-in Tony Leggett won for Te Puia Springs.

Overall points: Tolaga Bay 56, Waikohu 56, Park (2) 52, Mahia 48, Park (1) 46, Patutahi 44, Poverty Bay 42, Te Puia Springs 40.
