ALAN Thompson, part of the Fab Four, is still involved in kayaking as one of the Poverty Bay Kayak Club coaches. He is currently in Racice, Czech Republic, helping his son Quaid, Zach Ferkins and Britney Ford (all of Gisborne) prepare for the junior world champs at Minsk, Belarus, in two weeks.

After the champs, Quaid and Zach will contest the world marathon kayak champs in Germany.
