The champion of champions pairs for Bowls Gisborne-East Coast have been decided.

The juniors played at Gisborne Bowling Club while the seniors were at Te Karaka Bowling Club.

The junior women's and junior men's sections each featured four teams.

The senior men's and senior women's sections each had six teams competing.

Diane Murray (skip) and Erica Thompson from Te Karaka made it to the potential final against Norma Miller (skip) and Win Baker from Poverty Bay.

Te Karaka beat Poverty Bay in that round, which meant both teams had one life left, so they had to play another round.

The final was close but Poverty Bay slowly caught up and pulled away from Te Karaka.

Miller and Baker won 26-12 to claim the junior women's champion of champions pairs.

In the junior men's section, Ben Elkington (skip) and George Tamihana from Tolaga Bay played brilliant bowls and were unbeaten over the two days of the tournament.

In the potential final, they comfortably defeated Gisborne's Peter Clay (skip) and Chris Bunyan 25-9. With both lives intact, Elkington and Tamihana claimed the junior men's champion of champions pairs.

Leighton Shanks (skip) and July Williams from Te Karaka played some awesome bowls and beat Tolaga Bay 16-9 in the final round to claim the senior men's champion of champions pairs with both lives intact.

Lucy Shanks (skip) and Marie Wright from Kahutia kept up their momentum throughout the tournament and proved invincible in the senior women's section.

They had a great game in the final against Holli Elkington (skip) and Sharon Olsen from Tolaga Bay. Shanks and Wright comfortably won the game to claim the senior women's champion of champions pairs with both lives intact.
