Jo Kerr was delighted and a little surprised to win the senior gross title at the Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay women’s champion of champions at tlhe Bridge Pa golf course in Hastings.
Gisborne Park member Kerr shot 87, 82 to win the 36-hole strokeplay by three shots from Dannevirke’sMargaret Stephenson (87, 85).
Wairoa’s Kodee Green (85, 88) was a shot back in third.
Kerr said recently cored greens made scoring difficult but she was rapt to add her name to past Poverty Bay winners of the Champion of Champions Cup (presented by Mrs G L Stubbs in 1957) — New Zealand international Heather Booth (1966), mother Nan Booth (1967), Anne Witters (1998), Aimee Keelan (2000), Kerr’s fellow Park member Karen Hay (2002, 2004) and current Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay No.1 Tessa McDonald (2017).
