Ngatapa and YMP (2) face another tough night out in mid-week Premier grade netball at the YMCA.

The first of the Pak’nSave Premier games tonight features Gisborne Girls’ High Senior A against Farmlands Ngatapa at 6pm.

Girls’ High are fifth on the points table and have recorded two good wins against Ngatapa this season.

They will obviously have targeted this game as another victory.

The students have been playing well as a unit and have pushed the higher-seeded teams.

Ngatapa have had some good passages of play in every one of their games but they have struggled under the defensive pressure of the more experienced Premier teams.

This is likely to be another difficult challenge for them.

Whangara Old Girls (1) and Character Roofing YMP (2) are in action from 7.30pm.

Whangara go in hot from their win over Waikohu (1) on Saturday to be sitting third on points differential behind Waikohu although with a game in hand.

They showed their strength of working together as a team when they pulled back a 10-goal first quarter deficit against Waikohu before winning by five goals.

In contrast, YMP 2 had a slow start on Saturday against Horouta Koura to be well behind at the end of the first quarter.

While they were more competitive in the next three quarters, the damage had been done.

They will need to work together from the first whistle against a strong Whangara side tonight.
