The winning teams in the Gisborne-East Coast centre men’s and women’s fours bowling championships went through the tournament unbeaten.

Dayvinia Mills (skip), Glenys Whiteman (director), Del Tamanui (two) and Karen Pinn (lead), of Kahutia Bowling Club, won the Rahiwi Cup for women’s teams.

They won all four games in a five-team round robin. Their winning margins were four, five, two and 10, for eight points and a plus-21 differential.

It was a dominant performance from a team whose consistency shone through.

were held at Kahutia Bowling Club over two days.

Contesting the J. J. Martin Memorial Cup for centre men’s fours, nine teams played three rounds on the Saturday.

The top eight teams were seeded into knockout post-section play.

Gisborne Bowling Club’s Malcolm Trowell (skip), Boon McIlroy (director), Charlie Ure (two) and Andrew Ball (lead)were the only unbeaten men’s team on Day 1.

Three more tidy, skilled performances on Day 2 gave them an unblemished record for the tournament, and the title.

Special mention must go to lead Ball, who put on a masterclass of two-bowl leading throughout the tournament.

Time and time again he set up his team for success.

Runners-up were Te Karaka Bowling Club’s Paddy Stewart (skip), David File, Steve Goldsbury and John Dawson.
