CAMPION College and Aquinas College of Tauranga this week continued their 14-year tradition of sporting exchanges.

The annual exchanges had been a big part of Campion’s sporting calendar since Aquinas opened in 2003, Campion principal Paul McGuinness said.

“It’s a very important fixture for us because it’s our only Year 9/10 event,” he said.

“It gives those students more exposure and a wider range of opportunities to compare themselves and gauge where they’re at against other schools.

“Aquinas is almost twice our size. We’re challenged to lift our performance, but the camaraderie is awesome, regardless of the results.

“Close to 140 kids were involved from both schools and had a great experience.”

Campion won the Y9/10 football 3-1, mixed hockey 2-1 and Game 2 of the girls’ volleyball 25-18.

Aquinas won girls’ volleyball games 26-24 and 15-7, the rugby 15 tries to 4, boys’ basketball 80-6, girls’ basketball 44-21, Junior A netball 42-14 and Junior B netball 45-11.
