THE district’s reigning Eastland primary interschool triathlon champions will defend the crown at Nelson Park next month.

Makauri School were the overall points winners in 2017 and yesterday the students who will represent the school at the 2018 edition were sorted at its own triathlon champs.

The tri champs, held at Makauri, were also a handy warm-up for the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon at the new venue of Churchil Park this Tuesday.

Makauri’s champions for 2018 are — Hannah O’Connor (Year 6 girls). Austin Fergus (Y6 boys). Georgie Beaufoy (Y5 girls). Jack Taylor (Y5 boys). Sophie Barwick (Y4 girls), Sam Brooks (Y4 boys), Charlotte McDiarmid (Y3 girls), Max Latu (Y3 boys), Daisy Reader (Y2 girls), Hunter Williams (Y2 boys), Mariah Stewart (Y1 girls), Matty Moore (Y1 boys).
