SPRING may be in the wind but winter sport continues.

Netball, hockey, rugby and football battlegrounds were in full cry over the weekend.

YMP maintained their top-of-the-table status with victory over Waikohu 1 in premier-grade netball, Paikea and GMC Kowhai fought out an eight-goal thriller in Poverty Bay women's B-grade club hockey, Gisborne Boys' High hosted Hamilton Boys' High in Super 8 secondary school rugby and Gisborne Thistle gave their fans plenty to cheer about in a 4-0 defeat of Levin in a Central Federation football league match.
