KATH Willis had to settle for bridesmaid in the Poverty Bay women’s club championships last week.

Not so on Wednesday.

Willis, beaten in the intermediate final of the champs, combined with Anne Witters to claim the top prize in the Taste One First Light Frozen women’s Canadian open foursomes.

It could not have been closer.

Witters and Willis carded a net 131 to win the Saunders Salver on countback from fellow Povery Bay members Mary Allan and Tuppence Murphy.
