THREE days after Gisborne BMX Club’s 30th anniversary meet, 41 riders took the start gate for a good night’s racing on Tuesday.

Striders — Seven riders lined up on their Turn 3 start point for close racing. Ada Lasenby and Anna Spence led the young racers away, with Tenzing McKinnon, Jackson Young, Braden Foss, Alex Young and Ivy Lasenby following.

Five and under — Reave Nepia-Anderson was the racer to beat again, with Walker Wallis and Seton McKinnon leading the charge from Zavier Iremonger, Brad O’Connell-Bacon and Asher Nepia-Anderson.

Six and seven years mixed — Matt Hills again raced off into the lead, with Aliyah Lardelli pushing hard to keep up with him. Kyran Lasenby and Louie Sanders were hot on Lardelli’s back wheel. Jd Stairs and Leroy Hill were locked in their own battle, with Jorja Rogers and Liam Spence rounding out the field.

Eight and nine — Seth Iremonger took five from five but Kaitlyn Priest was chasing hard.

10 and 11 — Dane Berry may have raced off to win all five motos but Cate Hills made him work hard out of the gate and through to the third straight. Ruby-Anne Smith led home Brendan Bell and Breanna Iremonger, who swapped places all night.

12 and 13 — Joshua Lardelli took five from five, with Cjay Ingram leading the chase, pushing him hard. New rider Jimmy Jones rode well to claim third overall from Ben McCosh and Noah Warman.

16 plus — Justin Nepia had a good night, claiming first overall, with Phill Gill getting the better of Ethan Rogers. Troy Greaves put in a couple of good rides. David Parkes claimed fifth place.

18 plus — Jason Lasenby was too quick for Rob Graham, who had good battles with Stuart Bell and Bryce Kelly.

16 plus female — Kate McCosh joined the women and had five wins. Nadine McKinnon led home Tracey Panton and Sharyn Lardelli.

The next club night is on Tuesday. The Gisborne BMX Club Facebook page will have updates on race day.

New riders are welcome to join in the racing.
