BADMINTON

MERCANTILE badminton players continue their weekly tussle on the courts as BIZminton goes into its second-last week.

In the second week, WSP and Carbon Crusaders had a close tie that required a countback of points with WSP winning by 9. In a similar situation, Hauiti defeated Woollie Warriors in a points countback after a 3-3 match tie.

The third week of competition had more ties that were close. Carbon Crusaders, Ex-U15, Mallu Boys and Woollie Warriors all held off their opponents to take the ties 4 matches to 2.

Results from the second night of BIZminton, May 19, were: Stanley Family defeated Mahaki-Ewe-Karoro 6 matches to 0; WSP def Carbon Crusaders 3-3, 139 points to 130; Fruitworx def Uawa 5-1; Hauiti def Woollie Warriors 3-3, 142pts to 102; Mallu Boys def Slammers 6-0; Ex-U15 def Taua 6-0; GDC Smashers def Mahaki-Ewe-Karoro 6-0.

Results from the third night, May 26, were: Carbon Crusaders def Mahaki-Ewe-Karoro 4-2; GDC Smashers def WSP 5-1; Ex-U15 def Hauiti 4-2; Mallu Boys def Fruitworx 4-2; Woollie Warriors def Taua 4-2; Uawa def Slammers 6-0.

The draw for the fourth night, THURSDAY, June 2, is —

6pm: Court 1, Mahaki-Ewe-Karoro v WSP; C2, GDC Smashers v Stanley Family; C3, Slammers v Taua; C4, Fruitworx v Ex-U15.

7.15pm: C1, Uawa v Woollie Warriors; C2, Carbon Crusaders v Stanley Family; C3, Fruitworx v Hauiti; C4, Ex-U15 v Mallu Boys.

Reminders: Entry fees are due, along with your spot prize (value about $10).

Duty team (to sweep courts at the end of the night): Mallu Boys.
