The good-sized crowd who turned up at Eastland Kart Club’s latest event saw the best racing of the season so far.

The Anzac mini champs gave young up-and-coming drivers their own event. It was held over three races — with a front, middle and back. Points were gained over the three heats.

Noah Starr had two wins and Pyper Irvine, one win.

In the main event, drivers did timed laps to see which group they went into.

The A Main had the fastest-timed drivers in it and the B Main had the next best on time.

These standings changed during the day with some drivers going up a group or down a group, depending on their fastest lap.

The aim was to make the top 12, who would contest the A Main final.

In the C Main, wins went to Chris Gray  (Te Aroha), Daniel Taylor and Lyn Lyle.

In the B Main, wins went to Mika Vita, Harley Davis and Shane Gray (Te Aroha).

A Main wins went to Seth Hall in the flying KT and Luca Vita, with two wins in his Rotax.

A repechage was held as a last chance with only the winner making the A Main final. That place went to to Sean Gooch.

The fastest laps of the day were recorded by Seth Hall (19.462 seconds),       Vinzent MacGregor (19.606s) and Shane Gray (19.647s).

Drivers to make the A Main final, held over 12 laps, were Luca Vita, Shane Gray, Seth Hall, Vinzent MacGregor, Harley Davis, Kelvin Bull, Chris Gray, Daniel Taylor, Tessa Irvine, Mike Vita, Lyn Lyle and Sean Gooch.

The race produced some fast racing. Vinzent MacGregor led for most of the race but then lapped traffic got in the way.

Luca Vita came out of it best and went on to win.

The Irvine family put up some nice trophies and sashes from 44 Creations.
