Out-of-town racer to compete in 22 race programme that begins at 6pm tomorrow.

The Gisborne Speedway Club hosts best pairs night tomorrow and the action will be hot across all classes, with flat track bikes thrown into the mix as well.

It will be a 22 race programme, starting from 6pm.

“It’s great to see a number of out-of-town competitors coming for it. We should have a great night,” club president Sam Hughes said.

In the Best-Pairs racing, the drivers will know who they have been paired with.

“So they will know who to look out for as we go through the three race programme in each class.”

The stock car field of 16 will fight it out in the Total Fleet Solutions Automotive & Marine Stockcar Best Pairs, and included in the line-up will be Palmerston North’s Lucas Hey (13P) who won the North Island stock car title here last month.

Gisborne’s Bryce Simpson (98G) will be another one to watch.

The PFM Streetstock Best Pairs has drawn a field of 14.

“We’ll have a couple of drivers here from Wellington and also Stratford and Hawke’s Bay,” Hughes said.

The Mangapapa Garage Ministock Best Pairs will have 16 cars out on the track, including a couple from Hawke’s Bay.

ESM Services Saloon Best Pairs will have the eight local cars going for it as usual, with the duo selections, they’re going to be very interesting.

The Sutherland Automotive TQ Best Pairs and Kevin McKay Memorial will have a field of 12 cars, with drivers from Kihikihi, Rotorua and Hawke’s Bay.

In the Production Saloon Best Pairs, a field of 10 cars will be in action.

“The flat track bikes are a cross between a solo bike and a moto-cross bike,” Hughes said.

“We’ll have riders here from Christchurch, Auckland and Hamilton, and we’ve got 13 of them entered so far.”

The gates to the speedway open at 5pm tomorrow, with the first race set to start at 6pm.
